Laryngomalacia is the congenital softening of the voice box above the vocal cords causing noisy breathing in infants. Laryngomalacia can also impact eating, weight gain and breathing.
Symptoms of Laryngomalacia include:
- Noisy breathing
- High pitched sound
- Difficulty feeding
- Poor weight gain
- Choking while feeding
- Apnea
- Pulling in neck and chest with each breath
- Cyanosis
- Gastroesophageal reflux
- Aspiration
If laryngomalacia is diagnosed, our doctors may want to do other diagnostic tests to evaluate the extent of your child’s problem. Treatment of laryngomalacia can include medication or surgery.
